My First Day Of School...dun really think this compo is that good though

My First Day of School
My first day of school in Kent Ridge was a very memorable one. I had only recently returned to Singapore and was very apprehensive about my surroundings. It was like coming back to a home you didn’t recognize. Everything was new. The places, the appearances, the practices and most of all, the people.
My guardian drove me to school that day. Although I did not show it, I was really nervous. My brain was frantically conjuring up bad scenarios and concocting plans to avoid them. When we reached school, we went straight to the general office. There, we met my form teacher, Ms. Liang, who gave me my time table and my guardian, a consent form for a Learning Journey that was taking place that day after school. We then went to the school bookshop to buy my uniform and books. As assembly had already started, I changed quickly into my uniform and gritting my teeth, joined my class. Ms. Liang told me that I was to sit there for the time being. Only the last two people of the row noticed me. As I did not know who they were at that point in time, I shall not name them now.
As I followed my class back after assembly, more and more people started to notice me. The whispering started and continued to grow. I had anticipated this and kept calm. After a few more seconds of whispering, a few of them approached me and asked me the usual curiosity-driven questions. At that moment, Ms. Liang came, opened the classroom and ushered the class in. As I entered the room, the whole class erupted in whoops and cheers that lasted for what I felt like minutes. I lost my composure. I had not expected such a reception. Nevertheless, I regained my composure and introduced myself. Apparently, for the class, this demanded another round of applause and that is what happened. After Ms. Liang had quietened the class down, she told me to sit next to the class chairperson Sie Shi Jie. She told me that I just needed to ask him if I needed any help for anything. He was very polite and helped me throughout the day whether I asked for help or not. The whole day went smoothly through recess and P.E. as well. After school, we had our Learning Journey to Kranji War Memorial and Fort Siloso. There, we learned more about how the British tried to defend Singapore from the Japanese. We were into recently discovered tunnels and underground bunks where the shells, ammunition and provisions were stored. On the whole, I thought that the Learning Journey also served to help me get to know my colleagues better. My first day at Kent Ridge was very pleasant and I am sure to remember it for a long time to come.
